Welcome to the chat...
Here are the rules of engagement:
Please note: each rule does not target the content of a post or comment, but it's delivery.
Every comment is made by a human being, please be respectful of your fellow human. What you say will always matter, but how you say it matters infinitely more.
1. Be Respectful
Think about what you are writing, and how you would react if someone wrote with the same energy you are putting out. A single word change can enact a world of difference in your speech.
2. Be Thoughful
This is a space to exchange ideas, not degrade someone else's. If what you have to say is so controversial to another person's post, don't write it in their comments to argue, make your own post.
3. Agree to Disagree
If you have something to add or subtract from an idea, do so amongst like minded posts or views, not within entirely different conversations. Challenging your peers is encouraged, but do so in the right place.
4. Know Your Audience
Read the comments made on this example post:
- Comment #1: What makes you say that? (Perfect, ask a question that is relevant and engaging)
- Comment #2: The evidence surrounding is lackluster. (Perfect, an answer that is direct, and brings no offense or attack)
- Comment #2: I agree, believing in nonsense gets you nowhere. (If you agree, leave an upvote, or supporting comment, but try not to attack a different set of beliefs)
- Comment #3: You're just too close-minded. (Why attack? Ask a question instead, or bring a new idea to the table to explain a relevant opposing viewpoint)
